Adirondack chairs were the invention of Thomas Lee who while on vacation in Westport, NY needed a comfortable outdoor chair for his summer home.
The original adirondack chair had a straight back and seat set at a slant sit easier on the mountain inclines of the area.
Modern Adirondack chairs usually hace a rounded back and contoured seat and are quite a bit more comfortable than the originals.
